pick up your shovel and head back to the mine

the no-tee

it’s officially october, which means that i’m supposed to be back at work. it turns out that my leave isn’t officially over until the 3rd, which means i have three more days, but i’m trying to ease back into it, so that way it’s not quite so cold turkey for both me and hmc (and snapper!).

but it’s really hard and strange, to be honest. i can’t quite understand in my mind how to transition from a snapper-based clock schedule to any sort of non-baby-focused schedule. this also means that we’ve got to figure out how to do the hand-off much earlier in the day, as normally i’ve been taking the entire morning watch while hmc catches up on sleep.

i didn’t quite make it to the office today, but instead ended up calling in to meetings on the phone. maybe i’ll see how long they’ll let me get away with that.

yet sooner or later i’ll have to dive back into the mix of things. and get rid of that scraggly patch of hair that i grew under my “no workee no shavee” rule. say goodbye soon to the no-tee.

man, i can only imagine how intense it is to try and reformat your schedule to conform to crazy work crap. are you able to work from home at all? Or are “working from home” and “caring for newborn” completely paradoxical ideas?

so far, “working” and “newborn” are pretty antithetical. i can get work done if hmc is nursing. or if snapper is taking a quick nap. but if she’s awake…
