the incredibles

ok, now that the secret’s out, i can explain a little about the craziness:

1. yes, hmc’s preggers. due in beginning of september.
2. she’s been up for this job on the new james cameron movie for oh, about FOREVER now. she finally got called to maybe do it, only they wanted weta to hire her for budget purposes.
3. weta interviewed her, and said, “we love you. but if we hire you, you work for us. come to work for us immediately, as we need help on fantastic four/silver surfer. NOW. in NEW ZEALAND.” oh, and it would be through may, which conveniently would work for someone having a baby, say in the beginning of september.
4. hmc asks for lots of money, thinking that will disqualify her.
5. weta says “ok! we’ll also fly you out here, pay for your housing, and give you a car. although the car drives on the wrong side of the road. sorry about that.”
6. this is the incredible part: hmc SAYS NO. something about not wanting to be so far away. who would have believed it?
7. and then ANOTHER offer comes in to work on new eddie murphy movie, this time in lost angels.
8. hmc tells them she can only work through july, since that’s sure to put her out of the running.
9. they say “fine, no problem, we’ll replace you then. can you start in three days? plus, we’ll give you lots of money. but no funny cars.”
10. hmc STILL SAYS NO.

all in all, i’m amazed. but i can’t help thinking that i should have moved to lost angels already so she doesn’t have to make these decisions.
