stern grove

reason #26 i love to live in san francisco: free summer concerts at stern grove.

this year’s season started off with a packed madhouse in stern grove. but why not? a free concert not only with seu jorge but aimee mann as well? hot damn. of course i didn’t make it quite near noon to get a decent spot, but it turns out that even our friends of friends who got there at ten were stuck up in the hills, and they said that some other people had gotten there at SIX for the prime spaces. and we won’t even talk about the nutters who had camped overnight for theirs.

regardless, it was a beautiful unseasonably warm sunny summer day, and it was fantastic to take in the music and sit in the grass eating twizzlers and cherries and fresh mozzarella. the brazillians, bouyed by their world cup win this morning, cheered seu loudly. aimee was fine, but perhaps the open auditorium was not the best venue for her style of music. she really is better served in a smaller, more intimate setting, although the sound mixing did her no favors.

lovely to be hanging out with wanda, drinking djbj’s blueberry daiquiris, and seeing xz and danger back from their world tour! so fantastic to have them back.

honestly, the best part was randomly shouting “GO SOCCEROOS!” with danger.
