can i exchange this?

seeing this (fashion-wise) horrific picture of katie holmes on the superficial reminded me that i had some questions about tom and katie a few days ago. specifically, assuming that katie has to convert to scientology, does she have to pay her own way up the scientology chain? is it important to them that when you join and pay to get up a level, that it’s your own money? that you made it and paid it yourself? or can someone just buy it for you? maybe that’s tom’s valentine’s day gift: “here, katie, i just bought you the next level of scientology! hooray!” or even better, maybe you can give a SCIENTOLOGY GIFT CERTIFICATE!
