what?

for everything that we are amazed that gwb stands for, i’m still astounded that he made this statement in his state of the union address:

A hopeful society has institutions of science and medicine that do not cut ethical corners and that recognize the matchless value of every life. Tonight I ask you to pass legislation to prohibit the most egregious abuses of medical research, human cloning in all its forms, creating or implanting embryos for experiments, creating human-animal hybrids, and buying, selling or patenting human embryos. Human life is a gift from our creator, and that gift should never be discarded, devalued or put up for sale.

what? HUMAN-ANIMAL HYBRIDS?

WHAT?

so the scary thing is, is he just talking crazy shit again, or does he really know something that the secret government lab “accidentally” cooked up and maybe “misappropriated”?

More likely he wants to make the whole business seem more horrible than it is.

Probably a reference to the sort of step-cell research that allows human organs to be grown on animals for transplantation. See, for example http://www.petting-zoo.net/~deadbeef/archive/471.html or This mor athoritatve article in Forbes.
