my mom just called me from taiwan to tell me that my grandmother passed away on saturday.
this was my last grandparent, and the one i remember most. she came to stay with us when i was a kid, and i remember her watching bob barker on the price is right every day.
we were supposed to go see her when we finally went to taiwan next year. i haven’t been back for over ten years, and hadn’t shown hmc off to the folks back home.
now it’s too late. and i can’t even get back in time for the funeral.

I’m sorry.
awful. so sorry.
i’ll keep your family in my thoughts. :(
Posted by: davee at September 22, 2004 5:20 PMsorry to hear that ed. if you want to hang out and just release some of your thoughts and talk about all the good things you remember about her (or whatever), we can get together at Emmy’s for dinner tomorrow night.
Posted by: jason at September 22, 2004 10:12 PMMy heart is with your mother.
I’m sorry to be pushy, but why didn’t you call me? What am I here for anyway?
I love you dearly and I was in a very similar situation with my one and only surviving grandparent. I’m sorry I don’t read blogs everyday and now at 2am a few days later I finally see what is going on for you.
You don’t have to go to Taiwan to honor the love you have for your grandmother.
You do have to decide how you are going to choose to show up for your parents and what you think they really need from you.
Your parents are wonderful. There is no right and wrong in this situation.
You know what will make you feel like you did the right thing for you in this situation. Just do that and don’t second guess it.
Call me as soon as you wake up…don’t worry about waking me up.
Cheryl
